What to Do When You Get Stuck with Keto & Fasting

Keto and Fasting are tools 0:47 Legacy Health 1:15 Do you feel like you’ve been working hard to get into ketosis and are stuck? Have you been fasting and not seeing the results you want? Do you feel like you’ve hit a point in your health journey where you are no longer progressing? Or maybe you are running into adverse symptoms such as hair loss, weight gain, and headaches? I want to take a moment to address what you can do if you are excited about using these lifestyle tools but aren’t achieving the results you want. I want you to remember that ketosis and fasting are lifestyle tools. And they are only a few of the tools in your health toolbox. Some of you are going to pull out these keto and fasting tools and it’s going to work fabulously!

You’re gonna just fly with it. If that’s you, fantastic! I’m truly excited for you! But it’s totally unrealistic to apply a one-size-fits-all solution when we are, in fact, not all the same. The fact is, some of you are going to have to pull more tools out of your toolbox. I want to teach you something that I teach my patients. It’s a concept called legacy health.

Legacy health is an optimal health experience, a state where you feel energized, vibrant, and excited about life. You are showing up in such a big way that you’re inspiring everybody around you. The other thing about legacy health is that 10, 20, or 30 years down the road, you’re not going to burden your family with medical bills and disease. Your children, friends, and loved ones will see the example you set.

You are in control of your health, and that’s what we’re really aiming for, to give you the tools to move yourself towards legacy health. So what do you need to do to create legacy health? Legacy health is build on the foundation of two things: lifestyle tools and root causes.

Let’s start with lifestyle tools. When I work with a patient on lifestyle tools, there are a few perspectives we bring in.

1. Feeding the good bacteria in our gut

2. Minimizing toxic exposure

3. Brain balancing/nervous system health (this includes mental health) 4. Keto and fasting

5. Exercise Unfortunately, for some of you, those tools aren’t getting you where you want to be. Because of this, you’re going to have to take it up a notch. You are going to have to start looking at root causes.

Root causes are damages that have happened to your health, such as: Heavy metal toxicity. If you are packed with lead and mercury, you can throw all the lifestyle tools you want at your health and you will still not be able to achieve legacy health. Mold. I have patients who are living in a mold-filled house.

Mold actually makes you hold on to weight. Mold exposure can also depress your mood, make you feel more stressed out, and make your brain foggy. And, of course, all of that is accompanied by respiratory issues and body pains. So some of you are going to have to go hunting for the mold and come up with strategies for detoxing it out of your body

Some of you are so stressed out that your brain is actually dwelling in what is known as the midbrain. The hypothalamus of the midbrain is the fight-or-flight center.

Stress hormones like cortisol are very harmful if they are at chronically high levels. This can also trickle down and cause thyroid issues. If you are operating from there, I don’t care what lifestyle tools you use, it’s going to be very difficult to get to this optimal level of health.

So, if you’re stuck, ask yourself what other tool you can add to your lifestyle. Have you looked at root causes? Have you looked at what’s going on with your brain? Have you looked at your toxic load?

Have you done a stool test and looked at what’s going on in your gut? Those are the kind of things that hold people back from succeeding at a keto and fasting lifestyle. For those of you that find yourself running into roadblocks, please don’t give up on yourself.

You are a miracle and your body can heal! Keto is amazing, fasting is incredible and there’s so much great research available about how our bodies work.
