In this video, I want to talk about a question I received about water fasting. We’re going to cover questions like, what is water fasting, is water fasting safe, how to water fast, and are there benefits of water fasting?
Water fasting— Fasting (not eating) and only drinking water.
During a water fast, you only have water. You do not have things like: • Coffee • Tea • Vitamins • Minerals • Gum • Salt I do not recommend water fasting. Unless you really know what you’re doing and have had excellent nutrition for years, water fasting may not be the best, safest, or most beneficial way of fasting.
If you choose to do a water fast, the type of water you drink is very important: • Do not drink tap water • Either get a really good water filter or drink bottled spring water • Do not drink distilled water if you’re not taking minerals I recommend starting with intermittent fasting where you’re allowed to consume vitamins, minerals, sea salt, etc. and then gradually adapting to less frequent meals to the point where you can do periodic prolonged fasting.
The incredible benefits of fasting: • BDNF or Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor – This protein causes the body to produce more brain cells. • Antioxidant Pool — You start to make more antioxidants. • Mitochondria – You make more mitochondria. • Autophagy – A condition where the body is recycling old damaged proteins and cleaning up the microbes that should not be there. • Repair • Decrease Insulin • Recycle Nutrients • Increase Resistance to Stress • Decrease risk of getting tumors • Decrease Inflammation (autoimmune conditions, allergies, arthritis) • Ketones (preferred fuel)
